The Green Bay Packers vs. Arizona Cardinals, Green Bay
Football is back! Another season of Green Bay Packers football begins Friday, August 9 at 7pm at Lambeau Field where the Packers face off against the Arizona Cardinals. After losing in the 2012 Playoffs, fans are eager to see the Packers take the field again. Mike McCarthy says he wants “all four quarterbacks to play“, so fans will get the first game-time look at back-up quarterbacks. Fan favorite Jordy Nelson is out for all of the pre-season and won’t be making any official appearances for a few wakes. Here’s to an exciting “first” game — and a Packers win!
USA Triathlon, Milwaukee
The USA Triathlon will make its home in Milwaukee for 2013 and 2014, and Wisconsin spectators can enjoy this summer’s display of athleticism on Saturday, August 10. This National Championship weekend features the Olympic Sprint Distance triathalon — a 1,640.4 yard swim, 24.8 mile bike and 6.2 mile run. This race will serve as a qualifier for Team USA, so any winners of these competitions could be on their way to Rio de Janiero in 2016. Come watch the excitement at the Milwaukee lakefront, where the triathlon begins with a swim leaving from Discovery World.
Wisconsin State Fair, West Allis
Don’t miss the second weekend to enjoy Wisconsin’s culinary delights along with musical acts, exhibits in the expo center and farm animals. Special musical guests this weekend are Austin Mahone and Jake Miller (August 9), Vince Neil of Motley Crue with Stryper (August 10) and Miranda Lambert with The Farm (August 11). Foods new to the fair that you should be sure to try include Beer Battered Macaroni and Cheese Bites with Bacon, Cheddar Jalapeno Bacon Brat — Reuben Style, Deep Friend Peanut Butter and Bacon Nuggets with Berry Weiss Jelly and much more deep-fried, beer-battered, on-a-stick goodness. Plus, all veterans, military personnel and their family members will receive free admission on Sunday, August 11.
